Doctor Who comms on Dreamwidth

So, comms have always been tricky on Dreamwidth. Maybe there are some truly active ones out there, but by and large there's never been that critical mass to make them lively. Up to this point it's been far, far easier to just lure your friends over to Dreamwidth or find a few new ones through your network and have your fannish life be in people's journals.
But right now? I think there's a chance of making a few of them take off.

gallifrey_times has compiled a list of active Doctor Who comms and a list of inactive Doctor Who comms on Dreamwidth. Note: the distinction between active and inactive comms on DW is . . . a somewhat academic one.
I'm seriously considering subscribing to the whole list and just seeing if any of them rise from the dead. The upside of DW is that there's no real downside to subscribing to as many comms as you want. Most will sit there and maybe spit an interesting tidbit to you a couple times a year. But maybe this time one or two will do more.

Am puzzling over the very real dilemma of how to distinguish D(octor)W(ho) and D(ream)W(idth). Though, obviously it is a sign that these things were meant to go together. Someone has suggested DrW and DmW. Though I am tempted just not to distinguish and see how many statements can apply equally. Alll the love for DW! *\o/*

I believe it is, though i confess to not knowing which one!

That isn't to say that it hasn't occasionally thrown me for a loop. You could also do DW for Who, and Dw for Dreamwidth.
And it looks as if your picture's either from Spirited away or Whisper of the Heart.

I've never seen Whisper of the Heart. You really think it could be Spirited Away? It doesn't look like it to me. I guess if it is it would be from the driving montage right at the beginning.
I thought it was maybe Ponyo for awhile, as seaside cliff roads feature so heavily in that, but I don't think Ponyo has such a built-up looking urban area in it.

Date: 17 Apr 2017 12:59 am (UTC)You might also get some readers you otherwise wouldn't. There are people who want to patronize people who post on DW and will cast their nets a bit wider than they would other places to encourage activity--when you're not dealing with a deluge of content, you can explore a bit more.
