*dusts the cobwebs off this place* Hello, all! I've missed you. I've missed fandom. I've missed staying at all up to date with my flist. And I've missed things being normal and boring and quiet the past few weeks. Isn't Christmas supposed to come with a vacation? Sheesh.
Word of advice, children: I can't really recommend proper employment as a life choice, so study hard and stay in school. And fail all your tests so they can't make you leave.
Anyway, would like to find a way to both keep myself in coffee and rent money and to stay moderately active online again, and then realized that this is why they have those fandom challenge things, isn't it? There is a Doctor Who-ish one going around right now, but that is so clearly for actual Doctor Who fans and not people like me who are Moff-Who fans who also enjoy making fun of Rusty recreationally in their spare time. So the Fandom Snowflake Challenge it is.
Also: hello to various new people! Please stop in. I shall endeavor to be at least a bit entertaining for you, so you may feel the friending worthwhile : )
Day One:
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
I feel a bit weird answering this one, as I do not think I've done any fanworks in over a year or two? I am actually kinda alright with this as I am not one of those persons who Needs To Write as a way of life, but just from time to time when I stumble on something to say. That said, I realized I have actually written response fics to some of the more recent Doctor Who episodes that sum up my reactions to certain developments. I just . . . wrote them before they aired ; ) So, to have everything in order:
The Angels Take Manhattan: Ok, I got all the facts wrong, but I still feel like ATM was basically a validation of the portrait of River I drew in Ceremonial, for which I am very happy because I considered that piece a culmination of a lot of thought on the character and as sort of My Statement about her, so to see Moffat bring forward and highlight so much of River's self-control and sacrifice and bittersweetness that I tried to put across in that fic was very gratifying. The joke about selling an organ in the last section now feels rather darker than I'd ever intended (her wriiiiiist!) but I suppose that's how this ship goes: ~Shame you were busy that day, indeed.
The Wedding of River Song: A long, long time ago I wrote this about why River would kill the Doctor, if River ever killed the Doctor, and how that would have to happen: What Would Come. And not quite so long ago, immediately after Let's Kill Hitler, I wrote A Psychopath Walks Into a Bar, in which River and Fry!Master discuss a certain fixed point in time and River's intentions towards it. 'Cause I think as early as that Dalek in the museum it was pretty clear that River had one line she couldn't cross.
----------
And this is cheating and posting four works, but I feel bad for anybody here who isn't here for the Who, so here's a little something about Friday night with Robin, Barney, and Ted. Fun fact: one of my very first fic(let)s!
----------
Am actually feeling like I would like to get back into make Doctor Who stuff again, but not sure that what I want to say about this fantastic complexity that the show has become (or the emotional labyrinth that is the Pond family) is really gonna fit into words. I think . . . I might . . . feel a vid coming on? How do I vids, anyway? *scratches head* Is there a Vidding for Dummies post somewhere?

I'm probably being dense, but what line would that be?

Killing the Doctor. I mean she just kinda flipped on that Dalek all out of proportion to anything else we'd ever seen her do. There had to have been some deep-level shit going on there.
