Once Upon a Time

Hi all. Long time, and all that . . .
For anyone following the weather, got through Hurricane Sandy fine here, with shockingly little inconvenience at all, so yay for that. Hope you all are alright as well.
Also have vacation this week \o/ However, as my vacation destination (New York) ended up under water and am fighting a cold that won't die, week off has morphed into week for staying inside out of the rain, nursing my congestion, and catching up on tv and internets. So if you finally get a reply to a comment you made three months ago . . . that's what's going on.
Have managed to watch Once Upon a Time, and as I am currently awake at 3am, waiting for my decongestants to kick in so I can breathe again, shall say that I quite like it, even if I suspect I shall not be fannish about it. That is unless they decide to kick it up several gears, which in fairness I almost imagine they could. Am mulling over thoughts about how Moff-era Who, Fringe, and OUAT are all actually the same show, in different packaging. For the time being, though, am mostly like this:
I
just have
a lot
of
feelings
about Jiminy Cricket, ok?
Not all of them PG.
shut up

Date: 2 Nov 2012 11:36 pm (UTC)I find Fringe and OUAT both to be really good supplements to Moff Who? Especially for coping with unresolved Pond Family feelings. Because they both cover the same kind of themes and territory as DW but, since they're both American shows, they have so much more time to do it in. You'll be watching some scene from one of them and they'll be unpacking something that you really, really wanted Moff to get into but he only ever alluded to it.
Right now OUAT is doing all kinds of fabulous 'you're my long-lost daughter/parents and I desperately want to be with you but I don't know how to deal with the things that we're never going to get back . . .' stuff. At any rate, watching Fringe and OUAT is kind of my DW therapy. Your mileage may vary.
Also they're both very good shows in their own right!

made me wibble. Which would itself be enough to make me want to check out the show if I didn't have the TV attention span of a peanut. :P

Date: 3 Nov 2012 07:07 pm (UTC)"I can stream the whole thing on Netflix" was exactly how I ended up here *g* I hear you about too many things going on, though. It's weird how that's always the way and then suddenly something that'd just been hanging around as a possibility goes and snags you by the ankle and then it's all over . . .
Yeah, you should, like, do grad school, though. That would probably be a good idea.
