I've deleted my account. For anyone who is interested in doing so without having to sign something in Russian, if you're using some method of blocking external scripts (I use Ghostery) you can get onto the site without the pop-up loading. Apparently you can also just disable Java in your browser for a bit. Now, LJ is unusable like this, so it's not a way to keep using the site without consequence, but if you just need to nip in in order to burn the place down, it seems to work.

Thank you for this! Disabling Java worked perfectly. If anyone else wants to avoid poking around more than necessary (aka like me) someone linked me to http://www.livejournal.com/accountstatus/ which is where you can delete. Just FYI for anyone reading the comments.

Thanks for that--yeah, it took me a bit of rooting around to find the right control panel. And now I've seen that they may be countering the Java work-around, so that's annoying.

But still probably worth a shot.
