Once Upon a Time

Hi all. Long time, and all that . . .

For anyone following the weather, got through Hurricane Sandy fine here, with shockingly little inconvenience at all, so yay for that. Hope you all are alright as well.

Also have vacation this week \o/ However, as my vacation destination (New York) ended up under water and am fighting a cold that won't die, week off has morphed into week for staying inside out of the rain, nursing my congestion, and catching up on tv and internets. So if you finally get a reply to a comment you made three months ago . . . that's what's going on.

Have managed to watch Once Upon a Time, and as I am currently awake at 3am, waiting for my decongestants to kick in so I can breathe again, shall say that I quite like it, even if I suspect I shall not be fannish about it. That is unless they decide to kick it up several gears, which in fairness I almost imagine they could. Am mulling over thoughts about how Moff-era Who, Fringe, and OUAT are all actually the same show, in different packaging. For the time being, though, am mostly like this:

I

just have

a lot

of

feelings

about Jiminy Cricket, ok?

Not all of them PG.

shut up

I probably impose my Doctor Who feelings on waaaaay too many things already, but this sentence:

Right now OUAT is doing all kinds of fabulous 'you're my long-lost daughter/parents and I desperately want to be with you but I don't know how to deal with the things that we're never going to get back . . .' stuff.

made me wibble. Which would itself be enough to make me want to check out the show if I didn't have the TV attention span of a peanut. :P

YOU ARE TEMPTING ME. I have already applied much reading and writing of fanfiction to the cause of my DW feelings and the holes in them, and this might poke the holes back open again, but ahhhh I could stream the whole first season on Netflix. There are too many things and too little time, though, what with all my library books and my recently having been sucked into DC comics fannishness and my vague ambitions of catching up on RTD Who and Classic Who and then all the writing to be done for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide....and math homework. Mustn't forget I came to grad school for, you know, school. Gah. *flails*

Heh, grad school has kind of been the enabler in all of this, weirdly. Since I wasn't a math major as an undergrad, I'm taking less difficult coursework than some of the other grad students, and I don't have a teaching assistantship. So I actually have less work than I did as an undergrad, weirdly, and hence more time to get sucked into all the fannish possibilities. :P

How are things going for you, btw? Still super busy with real life?
