Nothing makes me feel older . . .

Than the ads I get served on Tumblr. It's an unremitting stream of condos, financial planning, football, J.C. Penny, breast cancer awareness, cars I will never be able to afford, and, I kid you not, retirement communities (I'm 33).

The irony of this is, I've always wanted to be older than I am. The day I turned 30 was a triumph. But I can't cope with this assault. WHAT IS THE POINT OF TUMBLR IF YOU CAN'T ESCAPE THERE TO LOOK AT PRETTY THINGS AND NOT THINK OF THE SAD STATE OF YOUR 401K?!?!?!?

Is it all this depressing? Tumblr is about the only place that manages to sneak ads through my impenetrable fortress of ad blockers and strategic paying for ad-free services. Would it kill them to try to sell me some makeup or a cell phone or some breakfast cereal from time to time? I'm living in mild dread of the day I see an ad for incontinence diapers in between an argument about gender pronouns and a quiz to determine which K-Pop group you are.

I don't think I can deal with this anymore.

In theory I know Tumblr has ads. I couldn't tell you what they are. My mind skips them, literally filters them out.
