I missed this because I'm useless (and apparently didn't notice it in my LJ feed)! I was going to get all tense over your suggestion that Rory could be relegated to object so easily but I realised quickly that I write so much from his perspective because we don't get it as much and that makes it more interesting to wiggle into his head :D
Annnyway, I agree with you on Amy and I think that's why a) I was disappointed with the way the series ended and b) feel like it's time for a new companion, as much as I adore Amy. I find it somewhat bizarre that Amy and Rory are returning just because I think they did sideline them so much and I can't see where they can take them from here. I'm with you in hoping that they'll play around with subject/object a bit and have them hand the Doctor over to the new companion with the situation a bit more balanced between them. As long as we don't get companion death I'm all for it :D
