And it's also unexpected that you wrote it as Rory being the one doing so. I think Rory is quite the observer; he just keeps it to himself a lot. It's the first thing we learn about him--he was the one to notice the coma patients walking about the village! And he documented it all very carefully on his phone *g* He's also very quick to pick up on the Doctor's MO (especially the 'you have no idea how dangerous you make people to themselves!' thing), is continually watching and gauging how Amy is doing, of course, and then in these episodes was sort of quietly keeping tabs on the Doctor and River's relationship. You can see him exchanging a lot of glances with River over various things--raised eyebrows and stuff like that--and then there's the way he nudged the Doctor's mind back to the 'possible alien incursion' and actually thought to ask River about what she meant about a worse day coming for her, etc., etc. So, yeah, I think he's quite nosy/observant/caring in that way--he's just a lot more polite about it than Amy! (Although I miss Amy's overt meddling :( Poor thing, she was too grieved over future!Doctor's death.)
Plus, as soon as I saw the kiss scene, I couldn't help thinking . . . Are Amy and Rory watching through the monitor? Ha! That never occurred to me. It's a good question, and I can see that happening, lol. Thanks for the nudge, although I'm not sure if I quite have a reason to write it. I'd need some sort of idea/hook that made it feel new to me, rather than too much of a retread of what's going on here. I'll keep it in mind and see if anything comes to me, though :)
