Thanks :) Honestly, I had a good half hour after I thought of it where I was just sitting there going "surely someone else has said that already? Maybe I just didn't see it? Is it just so obvious that nobody even bothered to say it? That must be it . . . I'm going to post this and everybody is going to be like--haha, what, you just thought of that?" My brain couldn't quite come to terms with the "well, duh" feeling.
It might just be that when Amy sets up the comparison, she's so very emphatic about her interpretation of it, plus seeing it the other way almost requires you to read backwards through the episode, you know? All the stuff about what the Doctor's going to do to the starwhale comes before Amy makes it into a metaphor.
