Well, I've got a theory, hinging on Moffat's tendency to reuse ideas, but it might toe a bit close to the spoiler/spec line for your tastes? I guess I have referenced it before in another context.
*deep sigh* This is why I so rarely speculate, I can never think of anything as clever as the writers. I'll admit that last season does have me feeling emboldened in speculating along broad thematic lines. Get down to the specifics though, and I fully assume I will be wrong--and hope to be!
