I'm not going to take that bet, 'cause you're going to win. Hee :)
And I think it had to be Ten who did it when it comes to River. A future Doctor will set it up, but Ten is the one who'll play god - because he can. Hmmm, that is a very interesting thought. I'd never quite thought of what happened with CAL as "playing god," but I suppose bestowing afterlives is rather in the god line of business. Heh. When you put it that way, it's sort of like older Doctor putting his younger self's power tripping to good use . . . I like the sense of closure to that.
(And, if we take Rose's words/actions there, which happen just before she collapses and the Doctor takes the vortex from her, which will then kill him... well, the whole thing is then quite literally coursing through him as he regenerates. Hmmmm. No wonder he broke.) That rather takes the "imprinting on Rose" thing to a whole new level. Niiiice. Not just who she was but what she'd been doing--the whole intention of that moment, the extremity of it. Which brings me back to Wilf and Eleven's regeneration, because Ten got into that radiation booth because Wilf did first to let that worker out. Heh--maybe you can convince the Eleventy holdouts to think of him like Wilf. Everybody loves Wilf!
I began to realise that what *I* saw was something vastly different and I had to spell it out so that others could see it too... It drives me nuts when that happens. Sometimes you're just dealing in such opposing frameworks it's almost impossible to communicate what you want.
But Russian structuralist theory is probably a bit much for a fannish essay (thank goodness)! There is a part of me that takes that as a challenge *shakes head at self*
