That 'rambling', as you called it, wasn't self-indulgent at all. It's always interesting to hear about how authors came up with the idea and then executed it. It's also made me even more curious as to what the ending is gonna be.

I don't mind being left hanging as much as being left at a particularly unsavoury spot. That having been said, I'd be more than okay with it if this turns out to be bittersweet :)
