Moff talks about stuff.

Just got done listening to a podcast interview with Steven Moffat. It's all lovely, of course, and an enjoyable listen if you've got the time.

Two highlights, though, were:

1) Moff's rundown of some of his favorite episodes starting at minute 42 (In which he reveals that he basically loved all of season nine and it's probably his secret favorite. Quite right too.)

2) An insight into PC's portrayal of the Doctor starting at minute 51 that I don't think I've heard before? Which is that he came back after series eight and said "I don't want to play the Twelfth Doctor. I want to play the Doctor." And then revised his portrayal to try to be less distinctive. That is fascinating to me, and I think the results basically speak for themselves.

Anyways, shall hopefully have a listen later (or tomorrow). Esp curious about the Capaldi/Twelve thing. If anything I'd say he started out as Twelve and then became the Doctor. ETA: The run-down at the end of Twice Upon a Time 'This is who the Doctor is'.

Well, tomorrow is back to pre-semester hell, so don't get used to it.

That's an interesting insight into PC. I noticed he'd changed what he did after season eight and I liked his Doctor much more for it, so it's good to hear that a lot of it came from him.

Huh, 9 was the one I liked least haha.

Yeah, it's obviously in the writing as well, but you can see it in the acting quite clearly. I just watched the season eight finale and Last Christmas, and he's much less mannered in the Christmas episode, while still essentially being a crankypants.

I barely registered it while it was airing, so disaffected was I feeling, and yet somehow in the intervening time it's become my squishy and I want to cuddle it and will hear nothing against it.
