Becuase you've just read a brilliant fan fic, and you need to flesh it out more (aka riffing, or fan fic for fan fic).

Because it's never going to happen in canon and you NEED TO SEE IT.

Because you're horny, and writing about two attractive characters having sex is very fulfilling.

Because original fic is too hard.
