I disabled the navigation bar on LJ the second it appeared. It's ugly and pointless. I don't think disabling is an option on DW, so I shall do as you bid. ETA: No, wait, it is an option, and one I have already opted out of! (Except when viewing other people's journals.) Anyway, does it look OK to you>
