Thanks for your thoughts! Besides what I said to elisi, I think the main thing I'd say in response is that we also don't know how old River is or how long she has with the Doctor. Which is not to say that she necessarily has a longer than normal lifespan, but I'll just note that we've seen her in a scene with Liz X when the dating of the scene would make Liz X something like 3,000 years old. That at least makes me wonder.
And with the whole 'our lives are back to front' thing, I really have to believe we have some kind of screwed-up timelines/alternative timelines thing going on there because them meeting in reverse order just does not square with anything else we know about them. The River we met in Time of Angels knew multiple future Doctors and needed pictures of his faces because they never met in the right order. Now we've just seen Eleven die--what must that have done to her timeline?
I agree that they imply heavily that the Doctor and River are in a sexual relationship, but is that the same as having it confirmed in canon? And I thought the world ended because the Silence messed with the TARDIS and made it explode.... Ah . . . sorry, I need to watch my wording. I was being slightly facetious and very metaphorical there. Basically, the universe ending and being remade in TPO/TBB works out to a sort of symbolic sexual act (the big bang!) in which River plays an obvious part. But she's filling a symbolic role there that she wasn't really in the Doctor's life yet.
