Why is it all fanvids are adoring? I mean, let's face it, there are basically three varieties of fanvid: shmoop, awesomeness, and emo. [/generalization]

Where's the critique?  Where's the snark?  Where are the vids that take the hero down a peg or two, or at least slap him about the head a bit?  Where's the mockery?  Where, in other words, is the vid about the Tenth Doctor set to this song:

I mean, look at some of this:

I've had a lot of failed relationships

I don't see the point of a partnership

There's only one me in the galaxy:

So I bide my time with philosophical questions:

I have not seen BSG, despite half my flist loving it to pieces. But what you describe sounds brilliant! I can absolutely see the attraction in that.

Battlestar holds the current title for "My Favorite TV Show of All Time," although I expect Moffat's Who to surpass it at some point. It does many things exceptionally well, but above all else it really is a character show, and everybody on it is brilliantly human.

It's also the only show I've ever seen that truly and honestly felt post-feminist. It's hard to describe, but the society they live in is not one in which gender is ignored, and yet to be female in this society quite simply is not an issue (and unlike shows like Star Trek that try to accomplish this and yet somehow feel wrong, on this show you really do believe it). It's lovely to see.

At any rate, I can't recommend it enough.
